Permits
A general-use permit is required for each vehicle entering Black Mountain Off-Road Adventure Area.
Fees derived from the sale of permits go directly into maintaining the trail system and development of new facilities and amenities.
Where to purchase a permit
Permits may be purchased at either trailhead each weekend during daylight hours.
In addition, permits may be purchased at several local businesses during normal operating hours including:
- The Harlan Center, US Hwy 421 and KY Hwy 38 intersection, Harlan
- Mount Aire Motel, South US Hwy 421, Harlan
- Buddie's Chevron, KY Hwy 38, Evarts
- Harlan County Campground & RV Park, US Hwy 119, Putney
Permit Fees
Our permitting system uses a decal that must be placed on the vehicle in a clearly visible location.
Permits can be purchased for a period of one year, or for 31 days.
Yearly Permits (One Per Vehicle)
One permit: $35
(Family Discount): Second permit = $30
(Family Discount): Each additional permit = $20

Each permit: $20

Multi-Vehicle Permits
(Register as many vehicles as you want on one permit.
Affix the decal to a placard and ride a different vehicle each visit on the same permit.)
