Gabe's Branch Falls is roughly 15 to 20 feet tall located on Gabe Branch in the northern mountains of Harlan County near the Leslie County line. After a short cascade at the bottom, the falls spill into a 8-to-10-feet deep swimming hole frequented by locals for generations. The falls is easily accessible - just a short walk from the road down a couple sets of stairs and one steep incline.
Directions
Gabe's Branch Falls is located on Abner Branch Road (CR-1133) 7/10 of a mile east of of Kentucky Highway 2008. At that point a small gravel road will drop off the low side of the road. There is no sign. Park here and walk down a short set of stairs that leads to a rocky outcropping above the falls. A short foot-trail will lead off down the ridge and finally to a set of stairs that reach the creek. The falls will be on your left.
