Community Journalism Workshop
June 28 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Appalachian Journalist Jennifer McDaniels will be partnering with the Kentucky Coal Museum to lead a workshop on the importance of Community Journalism and how anybody can be a part of the much- needed and important mission of collecting stories, documenting them, and sharing them for posterity. The Kentucky Coal Museum will be the perfect backdrop for this workshop as the museum also strives to tell the stories coming out of these hills in our area and and to preserve them for future generations. Jennifer will be joined by other writers, as well, in presenting and discussing not only the ways to make writing more compelling, but the value that exists for chronicling the stories that shape our communities and their people. The Community Journalism Workshop begins at 1 p.m. at The Kentucky Coal Museum and will be held on the second level – the Loretta Lynn floor. The workshop is free and no registration is required. The event is sponsored by the Kentucky Coal Museum through Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College. For more information, call 606.562.3893 or the museum at 606.848.1530.
