Harlan County is a place of celebration, adventure, and unforgettable memories.

We like to think we’re on top of all the fun stuff happening around here, but now and then, a cool event might sneak by us. Maybe we missed it in our social feeds, or it’s a new thing we haven’t heard about yet. Whatever the reason, we don’t want to miss out, and neither do you! Got an event you’re excited about? Shoot us an email at harlantourism@gmail.com or send us a message on our facebook page at Visit Harlan County. As long as it meets our parameters, we’ll happily add it to our calendar. We’re all about community and tourism events that bring people together.

So, let’s make every day a reason to celebrate in Harlan County. Share your event, and let’s fill our calendar with fun for everyone!

Dessert Week

May 12 - May 18
🍰🍪🍦 Get ready to have your cake AND eat it too! 🍦🍪🍰
It’s almost time for the 3rd Annual Dessert Week in the City of Harlan — and we’re serving up something extra sweet this year!

We’re on a mission to sugarcoat your week in May— here’s how it works:
🥄 Swing by the Harlan Center to grab your Dessert Week Passport which are NOW AVAILABLE!
🍩 Visit participating restaurants and try their signature dessert during May 12th-18th
🍫 Each dessert earns you a stamp — collect 5 stamps and head back to the Harlan Center for a FREE Dessert Week tee! You can collect your free tee up until the following Wednesday (May 21st). You MUST have your passport present with all 5 stamps present.

Plus — during the Headwaters Arts Festival on May 17th, any local bakers set up at the festival can stamp your passport when you purchase their baked goods. It’s a perfect excuse to treat yourself and support local!

And here’s the best part — YOU get to vote for your favorite dessert! Help us crown this year’s Dessert Week Champion and show some love to your favorite local spot.

The participating restaurants and their dessert include:
double kwik – Cherry Cobbler
El Charrito – Fried Ice Cream
Harlan County Beer Company – Brown Butter Cakes
Harlan Dairy Hut – Butterfinger Cake
Moonbow Tipple Café & Books – Mulberry Cheesecake
Rax Restaurant Harlan, Ky – Banana Pudding
Sazon Steakhouse – Mile High Peanut Butter Cake
Sports Cafe & Catering – Black Bear Dream Cake
The Portal – Peanut Butter Pie

We will have the link posted the week of Dessert Week for you to vote for your favorites! Come join us on this sugar high!
